The Road Not Taken

by Robert Frost

                                                                                                                     photograph by gacek

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I'm just saying

absolutely nothing and everything at the same time

Nothing can be everything
Everything is something
Something can be anything
And anything is nothing

Thinking you know something
Of what it means to know
Means understanding nothing
Of what you thought was known

Thinking you understand nothing
Of what it means to know
Means understanding something
Of what you thought unknown

But be sure of a certain thing
That you don't know everything
Though still know more than nothing
So surely you must know something

Therefore this is the way of being
That from learning something
Leads to knowing everything
And dissolves to nothing

Through understanding and learning
Comes some-every-any-no-thing
Which brings more questioning
And in the end still wondering...

Intersection

                                                photograph by the-good-fella

Dots etched in time
Marking physical existence

Birth into white pearls
Iridescent and pure
Then change as quickly
Coloured by life and lesson

Dots shrink and wither
At times blur and dim
Others bright and glowing
Always changing
Never constant

Trailing dots traversing
A rippling wake follows
Touching those around
Recording memories

Dots crossing a million others
Their lines weave intricacies
Magnificent intertwining
Learning and teaching
Affecting and effecting

Circumstances permitting
Two dots intersect
Exact moment exact place
Kindred souls collide and amalgamate

Their lines entwine and fold
A thick slurry of hue
Most marvelous and bewitching
There they remain forever

Unknown Quantity

Trapped in pitch darkness
Desperation causes suffocation
Any confinement shall wilt the kept
Till it is pitiful and broken

In the confines to keep it safe
Stretches and pulls
It is stuck, it cannot grow
Only serving poison to the soul

Though uncertain fear roams in freedom
There is blissful liberation
For the false will be known and fade away
And the true will return always

Alas a short lived comfort
Dread returns in full force
Gripping immobile
Wrenching cold sweat

Cannot be kept nor sent away
It is always present
To confound further logic
Disregard only feeds its growth

I have no malady
If you do, tell me more
Only fear of the unknown
Unquantifiable quantity

Love & Loss

Have you a friend
very close and dear
The sort you share everything with
With a laugh and a cheer

I have had many
throughout the years
And still do today
let's just be clear

What I speak now
Is of moments rare and special
When they have found the One
God praise the angels

But these friends of mine
Develop peculiar behavior
You don't see them anymore
Where did they disappear

In the past when you call
They show with no fail
Now try calling them
It is to no avail

Finding true love
What a joy that is
But losing a friend
What the hell is this

I'm happy for them
That much is true
But I really do wish
They have time for me too

I guess if it was me
It would be the same
Found the One after all
Certainly no shame

With all that said
Please remember this
You have your friends
In pain and in bliss

If the end does come
And the one is not the One
I will rub it in and laugh
Help them see they were dumb

When all that is done
Friends we will remain
Until they find another One
Oh no not this again

Clarity

of perception and purpose

See no light when it is bright,
Hear white sound in silent night,
This the norm which is rife,
Living as such is such a plight.

Mind of mines of no rhymes or reasons,
Clear the clout and flow with seasons,
Inviting hope thus freeing from grievance,
Take sweet time the essence of patience.

Pray for presence any form or matter,
Content with joy, bliss and laughter,
Comparing not who lesser or greater,
Seeking such the heart irks heavier.

Last of love and all its wisdom,
Love of people and all its creation,
Bringing life, dreams and aspirations,
The enabler shall find true freedom.

Discontent

by the constantly abhorrent mind

Sleep that gives no rest
I sleep a lot, I sleep just plenty.
When I awake, I feel I didn't get any.
Walk around in a daze that is hazy,
Some might think I'm just plain lazy.

Food that does not fill
I eat a lot, I eat just plenty,
But after a while, I still get hungry.
Thinking of food tasty and yummy,
Caving to cravings just makes me sickly.

Work that brings no fulfillment
I work a lot, I work just plenty,
Taking all my time, I'm not left with any.
Stress so much that the brain's gone kooky,
What I have to show is nonentity.

Play that provides no pleasure
I play a lot, I play just plenty,
Still I want more, never saying enough already.
Activities of multitude and great variety,
Blissful moments, though not really happy.

Misery that has no meaning
I'm miserable a lot, I'm miserable just plenty,
Why this is so, the reasons escape me.
Persistent discontent leaves me perpetually gloomy,
Might one day drive to sheer lunacy.

Shapes

by their sucky nature

Why am I a square?
It's so boring to be symmetrical.
So many squares around.
This is no good, just no good at all.

I'll try being a circle.
Whoa whoa whoa, I'm tipping over.
Oh crap! Why am I rolling??
Stop this moving,
I might actually go somewhere.
This is no good, just no good at all.

How about a hexagon.
More corners than a square.
And I won't roll around all silly-like.
Wait, why not more corners.
Allright, some more. And more! And more!!!
Shit, I'm a circle again.

Okay.
I will simplify, I will be a triangle.
No, that's not simple enough.
I will be a line, two ends.
No even simpler, I will be a dot!
Crap, I'm a circle again.

Screw it.
I'll go back to being a square.
Shapes stink.

Bubbles

of Dreams

Focus drift to nothingness,
Where to nobody knows,
All lost in the emptiness,
Veil of nightlight begins to grow

Limbo between real and imaginary,
Wisp into incandescent thoughts,
Images of the foreign and known,
Gleaming through the bubbly glow

I stand in a tropical paradise,
Discovering life from new perspectives,
Into the limitless sky,
Spread my wings and soar

Flying over foreign land,
Finally arriving in winter wonderland,
Lightly arriving on soft snow,
Christmas town lights up as night approach

Orange glow brings warmth and comfort,
People dear and foreign all as one,
Joy and celebration erupts,
Festivities here there all around

Alas the bubble bursts and reforms,
Into a murky grey...

The crowd subsides as they had come,
Shifting into shadows that never were,
Darkness stretches to consume all,
In the hollows and corners,
Emerge the horrors and dark things,
They wish to touch,
Long to consume

My escape begins,
Where once flight was possible,
Weight now drags the wings,
Flittering bursts reduced to strenuous strides,
Darkness comes to take me,
Approaching slowly but surely

Persistence brings fruition,
The dark bubble bursts into blinding light,
White subsides restoring focus...

Laying in place perfect silence,
Green fields and blue skies,
A single park bench by a shady tree,
I sit there wondering of questions

Staring at my shoe laces,
Brings pleasure and calmness,
Though nothing comes to mind,
Only silent contemplation

Nothing wanting nothing suffered,
Bending backwards over the bench,
Looking behind beholds the sun,
Hiding behind candy clouds

Dancing across view a single bird,
Perching atop the single tree,
Singing melodies honey sweet,
Floating into serenity

Haze lifts into the bright morning,
Soft bed and thick quilt beckons me to stay,
Return dear one to the bubbles,
Tugging at slipping strands,
Alas they are lost to the day..

Winding Paths

of life's journey and its challenges

Dead as dead can be,
nothing left in me but a broken body,
Not wanting to rot here,
so dredging on in monotonous motion,
wishing for fulfilment

Foggy is the road ahead,
Out in the distance,
a mountain looms across the horizon,
how long I would take to reach the foot,
difficult to tell...

Reminiscence of the roads past,
how beautiful the times and places,
the sights and the spaces,
why won't the days past come back,
replace the present

...Back on the road of reality,
and think anew the road ahead,
a mountain not worth climbing,
if to just reach the peak,
what of the peaks and valleys,
nook and crannies,
without which there is no mountain,
without which life is not worth living.

Hello...Goodbye

About our relationship with Mother Earth

There lies the first and the last,
The beginning and the end

The whole can never be explained,
Only glimpses into your elegance,
Your existence simple yet unknown,
Your secrets never fully understood

My undertaking brings us closer,
Closer to your end,
The thirst never quenched,
The need never satisfied,
At the last your likely demise,
Which is my suicide

I say I care I really do,
Though when words require action,
It cannot be further from truth,
Hypocrite I may be,
So too are many others I'm sure,
Why should I do anything if they do nothing too

So we die together,
In each other's embrace,
The day is gone,
Too late to be saved,
There will be no sadness,
No pleading for mercy,
For we brought it on ourselves,
This sorrowful misery
